Report: South Korea Steelmaker Exploring Possibility of U.S. EAFs
03/12/2024 - Hyundai Steel is weighing the feasibility of building electric arc furnaces (EAFs) in the U.S. as a way to avoid tariffs, carbon emissions limits and competition from Chinese produces, reports The Korea Economic Daily.
A company official told the newspaper that no specific decision has been made on whether to build a U.S. EAF. However, the publication noted that the company’s temporary green steel task force has been made into a permanent division.
